Bijli Mahadev Temple, as the name suggests is the temple of Lord Shiva, where almost every year lighting strike the Shiva Linga anPath of Bijli Mahadev Mandird breaks it into pieces. Then the priest of the temple rejoins the pieces of Lingam with the help of butter. The place where temple is situtated is called Mathana. The beautiful temple is surrounded by lush green meadows.

The statue and idol near temple are also the main attraction of tourists who came here from all over the world. And in the month of Saawan people offers ghee, butter, milk to these idols and worship Lord Shiva.

Where is Bijli Mahadev Mandir

It is located at an altitude of about 2,460m in Kullu valley. You get to see a panoramic view of Parvati and Kullu valley from this peak.


How to Reach there

Temple is easily approchable from Kullu with a 14 km of motorable road from Kullu to Chansari Village and from Chansari, there is a 3 kms trek in shadow of tall pine trees. One who cannot trek to Mahadev Bijli can come from Naggar to Bijli Mahadev by road via Janna Waterfall.
